Freak Me Out!

Last night, I started to have this weird feeling on my leg around my hip (Pasoas Iliaque to be precise). It just felt like I had an object like a button pressed against it even though I had nothing in my pocket. Later on, I decided to stretch my leg out so it wouldn't feel weird. As soon as I stretched it, I felt a sharp, burning pain which subsided less than a minute later.

Now, it was 2 in the morning when I woke up and felt the same sharp, burning pain in the same spot. When I started touching the area, I realized that that part was numb. It was like having my jaw numbed to get my wisdom teeth out. It wasn't the whole leg but just that part of my leg. Also, whenever I positioned myself differently, the pain came back. I literally started to freak out 2 in the morning. However, I calmed myself down and went back to sleep.

I went to the Student Health Center hoping that it would be open today but it wasn't since it's Memorial Day. I didn't want to go to the hospital because 1. I am afraid that it will cost a fortune and 2. I wouldn't know where to go in the hospital. So I am going to wait until tomorrow to go to the Student Health Center.

Am I freaking out now? Just a little bit. That one part of my leg is still numb and feel the pain when I position myself in a certain way. What's wrong with me? I have no clue.

My Heavenly Father Loves Me Part 7

Last night, I was reading the Book of Mormon before I went to bed. I was tired but I really felt like I needed to read few verses. The verse that stuck out to me was 2 Nephi 2:27:
"...all things are given them which are expedient unto man."
I don't know why but that just stuck with me for a while. I started to think about what that meant to me. The Lord has given me everything that I need to accomplish any goals that I have and also the goal of becoming perfect. I don't need to worry or doubt that I won't be able to accomplish these goals because He has provided all the means already.

As I was reading this blog, I was so touched by the words of the author and I wanted to share something that she shared:
"So hold on thy way,
For I shall be with thee.
And mine angels shall encircle thee.
Doubt not what thou knowest."

I especially love the part where it says, "Doubt not what thou knowest" because sometimes I get a confirmation about something but I start to doubt because nothing goes as you hope or you feel like nothing is happening toward the confirmation that you have received. I shouldn't doubt or be afraid of what I know to be true. I should always rely on the Lord and trust Him that everything will work out according to His plan.

My Heavenly Father Loves me Part 6

Have you gone to the Missionary Training Center (MTC) to do the Teaching Resource Center (TRC)? The last time I've done it was two years ago when I just came back from my mission. Today, I went to the MTC with J. and had an opportunities to be taught by some missionaries in Spanish. It was simply marvelous.

They have changed the TRC since the last time I did it. Instead of me being an (fake) investigator, I am just me. Their goal is to bring me closer to Jesus Christ.

The first set of missionaries were Sisters Ellis, Giles, and Norton. Sister Norton knew Spanish more than the other sisters so she spoke most of the times. Sister Ellis was struggling to find a scripture as Sister Norton spoke and had a hard time speaking. Despite their differences and their struggles, they taught me exactly what I needed to hear. Before they began, they talked among themselves to figure out what they were going to teach. Sister Giles suggested prayer and revelation, and I knew that they had the Spirit with them. Stories and testimonies they shared were powerful and they really spoke from their hearts. I definitely felt the Spirit.

The next set of missionaries were Elders Wolfe and Anderson. They weren't as great as the sisters because (later I found out that) they didn't seem really prepared and only Elder Anderson taught the lesson while Elder Wolfe slouched back on the couch just chilling. The only time I felt somewhat of the Spirit was when Elder Anderson started to bear his testimony at the end. Very unfortunate.

After talking with the elders, I went into J.'s room just because they (coordinators) wanted me to. I don't remember any of the missionaries names but these two sets of missionaries were fabulous. One of the first set of missionaries struggling with his Spanish and used English words in between Spanish words to make sure we understood him but when he was telling us a story about how he gained his testimony, I knew he was being sincere and felt the Spirit. I really believe that he's going to be an awesome missionary because he was so humble and had tremendous faith to rely on the Lord instead of himself.

Learning from the missionaries and feeling the Spirit really made my day and I knew that the Lord loved me and all those missionaries who were learning and growing in the gospel.

I Am a Nerd Part 2

This has to be one of the biggest achievements I have made in my life (besides spelling achievements correctly).
I made top 8 of the online minesweeper.

I Am a Nerd

So yesterday, I made some noise bombs with some toilet cleaner and aluminum foil. It was awesome. I haven't made them for years since freshman year at BYU so it was exciting to make them.

The reason why I am a nerd is because I knew exactly how to create a chemical equation for this reaction. It is 2Al (s) + 6HCl (aq) => 3H2 (g) + 2AlCL3 (aq) So they create hydrogen gas which expands the bottles then explode to create a huge noise. So AWESOME!

God Is Funny

Before I started my morning scripture study, I prayed to know what I should do today (I decided that I am going to figure out what I should each day instead of trying to plan days in advance). The scripture I read is Genesis 4:25 which reads:
"And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth..."
I highly doubt that's what God wants me to do today...

God's Wrath vs. God's Mercy

One Sunday during the Sunday School, we were talking about the allegory of the olive tree in Jacob 5. Someone commented that we always think of God as vengeful and angry but in verse 41, it says the opposite:
"What could I have done more for my vineyard?" -Jacob 5:41-
Heavenly Father was not angry. He was sorrowful. I think He feels the same way about us. When we sin, He is not angry with us but wishes to know what He could have done to help us make right choices. He loves us and waits us to return. However, you might ask, "If God loves us, why does God punish us?" Can you stop children from burning their hands when they touch the hot stove? Can you take away any consequences of any actions that someone you love committed? No, you can't. God could but He wouldn't.

To understand this concept, you must read Mountains to Climb by President Eyring. I talked about this before. Pres. Eyring said as he talked about trials:
"There are reasons for that. Knowing those reasons may not give much comfort, but it can give you a feeling of patience. Those reasons come from this one fact: in Their perfect love for you, Heavenly Father and the Savior want you fitted to be with Them to live in families forever. Only those washed perfectly clean through the Atonement of Jesus Christ can be there."
As we are tried and receive consequences for our sins, we learn to become more like God and Christ and mold ourselves to be "fitted" with Them. Of course, when we sin, we can't enter into the Kingdom of God because we are sinners. However, Pres. Eyring said that we must be washed clean through the Atonement of Christ. If God were a wrathful God, He would have only chosen few people to enter into the Kingdom of God or require certain conditions/qualifications to use the Atonement. However, because He is merciful and loving, He lets everyone to use the Atonement to be clean to enter into the Kingdom of God.

I know that Heavenly Father loves me. I know that when we sin, He waits for us to return to Him. We should always ask ourselves, "What can I do more?"
