"I Wasn't Born Here!" Pt 3

I love it when people who were born here come to me to either check their papers or ask me how to spell "completely." I had a guy come up to me last Saturday and he asked me to read over his paper to make sure everything looks good. Later I found out that he was sending this paper to Japanese government for an English teaching job there. OK, if you would think that his English would be pretty good because he will be teaching it to Japanese, you are wrong. His paper was terrible in a way that the paragraphs he wrote were so short and very choppy. I didn't say anything to him about it but I just couldn't help thinking that even I could write a better paper than that. Also, his paper did not sound professional at all because the way he wrote the sentences with the words he chose sounded like he was still in high school. Didn't he take English 150? I mean, when I write anything that is as important as his paper for this job, I always have a different tone of voice than when I am blogging about people who can't write. Am I wrong?

Dude, I don't know how your paper stinks so much when I, who wasn't born here, can write something that is so much better than that.

And yes, I had someone come to me and asked me how you spell "completely" about an hour ago. If it was something like "onomatopoeia," I would have told her to look it up online or have butchered it, but "completely"? Are you serious?

Dude, I even know how to spell that even though I wasn't born here.

Finally!

How was your Thanksgiving break? Mine? Simply amazing! There were a lot of things I did that could affect me in the near future (or not). I had the meal at my friends' apartment because there were staying in Provo for Thanksgiving. It was way fun and we had tons of food!

The best part about the break is that my roommates and I got to decorate our house last night! Actually, we just got our Christmas tree up and decorated it but it was still way fun! I felt like a little kid when I was decorating it. We put out some boxes to make it look like we have gifts even though we don't.

I am really really excited for Christmas this year for some reason.

Kyoo Tips

So friends of mine thought that it would be cool if I changed the name of this blog to "Kyoo Tips" but I am not going to. Instead, I am going to make a new blog called "KyooTips." Thanks, Lori and Cristy!

Dear Santa,

I want to let you know what I want for Christmas.
I know people ask for technology, toys, cars, iPad2, iPhone, iPod, and all that good stuff for Christmas.
However, I would prefer it if you gave me money instead of anything so that I wouldn't feel too bad to spend a ton of money buying clothes and shoes I want.
Or you can just get me some clothes and shoes I want.
Either way would be fine.

Lots of love,

Kyoo, the Asian.

On a more serious note,

My birthday and Christmas are coming up, and I thought about what I could get my mom whose birthday is on Christmas day this year (it changes every year). What's a good gift for an Asian mother who is turning 50? I don't know. I also need to coordinate this with my brother so we don't buy the same thing.

I never wanted anything for my birthday but this year, I would like to get a gift card or money so I can go shopping and spend all of that money buying clothes and shoes without feeling guilty. I wouldn't feel bad because I wouldn't be spending "my" money. Now you know what I want for my birthday/Christmas (if you know when my birthday is, you should know why I said "birthday/Christmas"). I don't expect it from you at all actually. I expect it from my parents. Then again, I might have to use that money to buy something for my mom...

One Second of Your Life

Do you know how important every second of your life is?

I got in a car accident yesterday. No one was hurt and my car has very minor damages to the bumpers. However, it made me think about how one second could have prevented this accident. What if I left stores earlier or later, what if I left home earlier or later, or what if I slowed down or sped up? Just not being at that spot a second earlier or later would have prevented this accident from happening. I am not blaming anybody or anything. I am just saying how life is very interesting (I can't come up with any other word to describe what I am thinking) or mystical. I don't know.

Think about your life; how you meet people on the street and things that you didn't expect before. Don't you appreciate them more and more? Don't you feel God's love for you more? I do. I appreciate the accident I had because without it, I would not have had this opportunity to learn. I would not have had remember what I learned on my mission. I learned to appreciate so much and learn to deal with situations like that (I laughed so much for so long).

I am glad the Lord is "piloting" me.

Jesus, Savior, pilot me
Over life's tempestuous sea;
Unknown waves before me roll,
Hiding rock and treacherous shoal.
Chart and compass come from Thee:
Jesus, Savior, pilot me.

I Work at a Zoo Called "Library" Part 8

There is an African guy (he's not African American, he's African) who goes around everywhere (at first I thought he was just lurking around in the library but he does this everywhere) and starts talking to a girl who is sitting by herself. It's always the same conversation (or should I say argument?): is the Church against interracial marriage. He argues that leaders of the Church make it seem like we shouldn't marry outside of our race. You will see him walking around here and there. The creepiest part is that he scouts out for a girl sitting by herself! What makes me really mad is that he talks about the same thing and just talks and talks and talks. Girls don't can't say anything back because they don't know what to say or they don't have anything to back them up except this idiot talks to everybody about it so he knows his sources. Another thing that makes me mad is that most of the girls he talked to always agree with what he says! Don't agree with him if you don't agree with him. Don't let him brainwash you like that. Just because he makes it sound so right and all that jazz, doesn't mean you have to agree with him. If you disagree, tell him you disagree. Watching people deal with him makes me so mad at him. I feel like going up to him and say, "Dude, what's the purpose of doing all this? You talk to different girls about the same thing! Why? You are just being a(n) [insert a bad word]!" Can I call security to escort him out?

If You Could Go Back in Time...

This was what I really wanted to blog about yesterday but I forgot about it until now. Even after blogging about something different, I still didn't remember what I was thinking yesterday. I am grateful that I blog-stalk people to be inspired or re-inspired. :)

Anyways, let me ask you this question: If you could go back in time, would you change anything? Think about it for a minute or two. Think about happy moments, sad moments, embarrassing moments, shameful moments, joyful moments, funny moments, etc. Now, my next question is why would you change it?

I thought the first question for a while yesterday. For the longest time I thought that it would be really neat to go back in time and change things that I wish I didn't remember. But yesterday I decided that I would not change anything at all. Yes, I have embarrassing moments. Yes, I have sad moments. Yes, I have depressing moments. However, I would not change them for anything because I know that I was supposed to experience those things to grow. If I truly believed in tender mercies of the Lord, why would I want to change anything that happened in my life? I should be grateful that they happened to me.

Memory is like a tree; when you are hurt, the wound heals but leaves a scar as memory lingers on. As you experience more things, sometimes the scar gets covered up but it's still inside you. Sometimes the scar is visible. However, you are a better person because of it.

I am grateful for everything I have experienced even if it nearly killed me or left me with regrets, I learned so much and I am stronger through those experienced. I would not change anything and keep them in my mind and heart.

He Gives Us a Coat of Skins

"Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them." -Genesis 3:21-
I like this painting because it
shows the sorrow they felt
as they left the garden
Many have you probably learned that God gave Adam and Eve these coats of skins  because they were naked. If you ponder more about, you realize few more things:
1. He provided the coats because it was important to them.
2. He provided the coats because the warmth of the coats would be symbolic of His love for them.

They are not what I want to talk about. I want to talk the fact that He gave them the coats despite the fact that they just sinned. God just condemned them for breaking a commandment and in the previous verses of Genesis chapter 3, He told them that the earth would be cursed with thorns and thistles. However, He didn't just kick them out by saying, "You are on your own," but provided something that they needed and that is symbolic of His love.  He did care about them even though they sinned. Aren't you grateful to know that He loves you even if you are not perfect, make mistakes or distance yourself from Him? He loves us and He will give us "coats of skins" that we may remember that He always loves us no matter what we do or how we feel about ourselves.

"I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you." -John 14:18-

Blessings of Mission

Thinking back on my mission:
There were good times
There were bad times
There were joyous times
There were sorrowful times
There were fun times
There were hard times

Reconnecting with my mission:
I loved God's children
I helped them
I served them
I taught them
God's children love me
They help me
They serve me
They teach me

Drops of tear forming in my eyes:
I listen to God's children thank me
I recall baptisms of people I taught
I remember testimonies of recent converts
I think about investigators who didn't accept the gospel
I look back on arguments I had
I hear stories of God's children falling away

Still being a missionary:
I have to be an example
I have to study the scriptures
I have to pray
I have to go to the temple
I have to take the sacrament
I have to magnify my calling
I have to love all God's children
I have to have the countenance of Christ
I have to be perfect

A New Sunday Routine

I started going with a group from my ward to rest homes to sing. I've been doing it for about a month now but yesterday was a little bit different. After going to sing with a group, I went to another rest home by myself because I felt like it. I met a woman named Loraine (I hope that's how she spells her name). I talked to her for about an hour and it wasn't just her talking to me about her life but also me talking to her about my life. I have never realized how lives of older generations and younger generations can connect so easily. I loved listening to her and she loved listening to me. I sang "I Stand All Amazed" and "He Shall Feed His Flock." While I was singing the latter, I sang it to her. I focused on her. The song touched her heart and I saw her wipe away some tears from her eyes. I promised her that I would visit her again next Sunday and left her with my name on a piece of paper and a hug.
