Celebrating Easter Weekend

I didn't grow up as a christian and never celebrated Easter in my life. I didn't know anything about Easter bunnies or egg hunting before I came to the U.S. Actually, I didn't know anything God or Christ so Easter itself wasn't a part of my life at all.

However, for a week, my New Testament class teacher talked a lot about celebrating Easter. Not with chocolate bunnies or egg hunting but by thinking about Christ and reading about the last week of His mortal life. I thought a lot about how I could celebrate Easter weekend. The only way for me to celebrate Easter is through reading about the Atonement, the crucifixion, and His resurrection. Also, by sharing my own testimony of Christ with others. Also, I would like to share this short clip of 7 minutes about the last week of Christ's mortal life.

Christ did bleed at every pore and suffered so much because He loves us and wants us to be able to return to our Heavenly Father. It is impossible for us to do so by ourselves but He "bought" us with His life as a price and set a new "term" for us to return to God. The new "term" is that we keep His commandments and repent.
"For behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent;
But if they would not repent they must suffer even as I;
Which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit—and would that I might not drink the bitter cup, and shrink—
Nevertheless, glory be to the Father, and I partook and finished my preparations unto the children of men." -Doctrine and Covenants 19:16-19-

The death of the Savior came on the cross; however, He taught us that the death is not the end.

"And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?
Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have." -Luke 24:36-39-
"But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.
And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed." -John 20:24-29-
Let us all remember Christ during this Easter weekend and remember the most important works He had done during these last few days of His mortal life.
