My Favorite Sunday Activity

That's not my group.
It's a random picture I found on Google.
Don't judge me for saying this but going to church isn't my favorite part of Sunday for me. Don't get me wrong. I love it and I sometimes actually pay attention in classes (that's a joke...I don't listen at all...OK, I do listen). However, there's something else that I wait patiently for every Sunday: going singing at a nursing home/rehabilitation center. I love it so much and here's why.
"I get to do two of my favorite things: singing and serving. Both of which make me feel better and help me forget myself [and all my problems]. It's not about how I feel but how those people who are listening feel and the message of the songs that we sing." -An excerpt from Sunday, January 22, 2012-
I agree that the sacrament is the most important thing on Sunday but I still think that it's arguable that serving others could be more important. Do you think Christ would wait to serve others because He hasn't partaken the sacrament? I don't know. Seriously, I don't know. Maybe but maybe not. However, if the greatest commandment is loving God and the second is loving your neighbors (which in my opinion is exactly the same as the first). If I am doing them, would it matter if I partook the sacrament or not? Something to think about, right?

I am not trying to make it look like I diminish the importance of the sacrament. I am just trying to tell you why singing at a nursing home is my favorite activity. Then again, you can argue that I could sing at a nursing home any days of the week... (Do you like it when I contradict myself? I do.) I would argue then that it doesn't make any difference that that is my favorite thing to do on Sunday.
39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. -Matthew 10:39-
